How about Julio Cesar? IMO he had a better peak than Castilho, Marcos and Dida and has more legacy with "Seleção" than Alisson and Ederson.

Probably Alisson's legacy will be bigger than his though.

PS: absolute number of games is unfair with the past players since there was less games during the old days. 30 vs 100 is a huge difference though.

Yeah, I would put Julio Cesar in front of Castilho too. But maybe his presence in 2014 will keep him out of the selection to some supporters.

As for Alisson and Ederson, I really don't remember another time that Brazil had one (much less two) goalkeepers considered among the best in the world. But I think they still need to prove themselves in the Brazilian team

I agree. But what many people doesnt know, Barbosa was blamed because of the 1950 defeat as well. Actually, more than Julio Cesar was. It took time for people forgot about that and "forgive" him and Barbosa is listed here (IMO, fairly listed). So, if he can be here, Julio Cesar also can.

Agreed. It is because Brazil doesnt have tradition for the greatest goalkeepers. It is our weak point. I would say Brazil's historic level for goalkeepers and center-backs is bellow than other traditional football countries. Maybe defensive midfielders too. So, our competitiveness for those position is lower.

The addition of Rivaldo is fair. Criteria in national teams is something very difficult because on one side we have extremely skilled players who have not won anything. In my opinion Rivaldo is a better player than Sócrates and was certainly more present while representing Brazil, having one of the greatest individual performances in a World Cup for the country.

I find it interesting to discuss Edinho's situation as well (maybe Cerezo's, but I understand that he is there for a tactical need, so leave it alone). Edinho, although he is one of the best defenders Brazil has ever produced, doesn't even come close to being one of the most important ones. Guys like Domingos da Guia, Luís Pereira, Aldair, Lúcio and even Orlando had more important, decisive and winning appearances than him.

Casemiro can be included in reserves. I'd replace Zagallo who was much more of a tactical player than anything else.

About Edinho: he has no place in the first team. There's absolutely no reason and no valid argument to put him ahead of the likes of Da Guia, Lúcio, Aldair or Thiago Silva. The entire squad is build with importance for the NT being the most relevant aspect and for some reason he is the only exception.
