INFO:
Romano was a centre-forward, occasionally deployed as inside-right. His career started in 1928 at Como where he played until 1934 and in 1941-42 for a total 99 games and 72 goals. He then played for Novara from 1934 to 1941, making 178 appearances and scoring 94 goals, leading the team to its return to Serie A in 1936. He was Serie B top scorer in 1932-33 and 1934-35 with 29 and 30 goals respectively. He also played for Catania in 1942-43 and Pro Italia in 1944.
A goal machine in Serie B, Romano was a promising striker who had the chance to spend a few seasons in Serie A but proved not to be as prolific as he was in the Italian second division. He wasn't particularly tall but had a solid build and didn't fear to fight for the ball in a melee, unmarking himself and rushing forward between the defenders with ease. His physical style earned him numerous fouls and penalties that he often took and scored. He was also a good free kick taker. He possessed a remarkable short sprint and powerful, usually unstoppable shot that made him a constant threat inside the box. His headers were also quite accurate. Occasionally deployed as inside-right, especially during his time with Como, Romano proved to have a solid ball distribution with which he linked the midfield with the entire forward line.
