INFO:

Vladimir Kesarev was a former Soviet defender, considered one of the best in the country in the late 50s. He was a right back known for being one of the first in the Soviet Union to support the attack. Besides this he was known for his reliability and determination. He was a good passer and pretty tough, while also being good in defence, he could also play as a centre back and notably did so for the second half of the 1957 season when his teammate Krizhevsky was injured: during this period, Dynamo only dropped 3 points in that half of the season. He was especially good in positioning and interceptions, and at sticking close to his man. Kesarev had a strange route to the top: he only made his professional debut at the age of 26, and a year later he had made his debut for his national team. He spent his entire career at Dynamo Moscow and formed a formidable back line for both club and country with Konstantin Krizhevsky and Boris Kuznetsov. He played at the 1958 World Cup but unfortunately missed out on the 1960 Euro where the Soviets won their only international trophy because he was struck down with appendicitis.
