His only job was to score goals. He didn’t participate in build up play, he didn’t move much, but in the penalty box, he was deadly. His quick reactions and positioning combined with extremely precise shots were his greatest assets. He didn’t curl the ball, his shots weren’t hard either, he simply aimed for angles of the goal and he did that perfectly. He was dangerous from the air too. He wasn’t much of a technician, but in the penalty box, it seemed that his close control improved too. When creating himself a chance, he always looked to create opportunity to shot with minimal number of touches. During his spell at Monaco, the club had it’s ups and downs, but Delio’s kept on scoring on regular basis. In season 75/76, he scored 29 goals and Monaco was relegated, than the next season he scored 30 in Second divison as they promoted and finally in season 77/78 he scored 29 goals again and helped the team win the Ligue 1. Nevertheless, he never debuted for the national team, simply because of coaches preference to call players who played in Argentine league with the exception of the great Mario Kempes.
