Mavros is the top scorer in the history of Greek football with 260 goals in the top division, and an all time legend for AEK with 224 goals for the club in all competitions. "The Black God" was an excellent striker who stood out for his uncanny ability to always find himself free in the box and finish chances. He was a great finisher, precise with both of his feet and with the head, and also had a big jump. On top of this he was quick and technical, with a very good first touch in particular, and quite good at dropping deeper and linking up with his teammates. His main weakness was his quite small size, sometimes he struggled with more physical man marking. In 1979 he was the European Silver Boot as the 2nd top scorer in the European leagues. Among AEK fans he is maybe even the most beloved player, and he's also one of the greatest legends for Panionios where he started and ended his career. For the Greek national team he scored 11 goals in 36 games and played at Euro 1980.
