INFO: Niginho was one of the few players in the history of Brazilian football who took his passion for the club heart into the grass.
At the age of fourteen, he was already working in the basic categories of the Lecture. "Niginho" was not just his nickname. He was also known as "Executioner of the Classics": the striker is nothing more, nothing less than the highest scorer in classics against Atletico and against America's history of the Raposa. Against the rival alvinegro scored 25 times and against the Rabbit scored 48 times. He was also three times top scorer of the state championship: in 1931, 1940 and 1945, with 15, 11 and 14 goals, respectively. Another nickname of his was "Tank", fruit of its specialty, to break the opposing defenses taking advantage of its high stature and physical force. "Boy Metralha" was another nickname, the first one: he kicked so hard when he got to the main team, at age 19, that soon came to be called that way.
Thanks to fame the striker was hired to Lazio and made history in Italian football. Niginho even scored four goals against Milan in the same game. Enlisted to serve the Italian army, he fled to Brazil and played for Palmeiras. It was a quick but remarkable passage. According to the Almanac of Palmeiras, by Celso Unzelte and Mário Sérgio Venditti, he played six games for the São Paulo team with the incredible mark of six goals scored. Conquered five victories and drew a match, a use of almost 100%. He played the six final matches of the São Paulo championship, scoring six times and being a champion. Then he played in Rio de Janeiro, hired by Vasco da Gama. The miner also played for the Brazilian team through the cross-national team, which was called by Ademar Pimenta for the South American Championship in 1937. He participated in the debut against Peru, scoring 3-1 in the Brazilian victory.
By many it is considered the greatest Cruzeirense reference until the decade of 1960, when Tostão appeared to the world.
