INFOBror Lars Astley Mellberg (9 December 1923 − 8 September 2004) was a Swedish footballer who played as a forward. He was inside forward and centre forward with good technique and playmaking abilities. Bror had great sense for a goal and was dangerous in aerial battles. But he was slow player and in frantic football with agressive play didn't look good. When he didn't have good day, he wasn't too much useful for his teams. Bror Mellberg came from the small town Ambjörby in northern Värmland, but he became one of AIK's greatest player of all time. Raised in Ambjörby in northern Värmland was the football and skiing (district champion at 10 km for juniors) who caught the young Mellberg. And eventually it was just football. Karlstad BIK discovered Bror Mellberg at the end of the 1940s. And although he was 23 years old he was sent to Bosön for the course called "tomorrow's men in Swedish football." Bror was then selected for a B international against Norway and was where the first contacts with Putte Kock, AIK author who was team leader. Shortly thereafter arranged Herbert "Bank" Olsson Bror Mellberg transition to AIK. Bror Mellberg made his debut in the fall AIK 1949th He was a major contributor to Sweden's third place in the World Cup in Brazil in 1950 and he participated in two World Cup matches in 1958, in Sweden's all time best team. Following the successful World Cup game in Brazil became Bror Mellberg professional first in Italy (Genoa FC) and then for three clubs in France. Then the Red Star Paris (which had the same owner as Toulouse) who bet hard on to win the French Division 2, any failure of three years as a Bror Mellberg was in the club. Last year in France played Bror in Sochaux FC (south of Strassbourg) but when it began to be unrest in the country (France had a war in Algeria to master) moved Bror Mellberg to Sweden and AIK.He ended his active career with four seasons of AIK, the last, he combined the gambling manager. When he came home to Sweden and AIK in 1957, he was a wealthy man. He began investing in businesses and managed their pound wise as he always did. Mellberg was the man who knew what he wanted - and he wanted to deal. He died in 2004.
