The fact that Modric is about to win the Ballon d'Or is a complete joke, if this wasn't a World Cup year he wouldn't even be nominated at all, he's been dreadful for 3/4 of the year. No matter what people want to think, Messi and Ronaldo were still easily the best players in the world this year. If the award was solely based on who consistently had the best performances, Messi would have 7 or 8 Ballon d'Ors by now, to put guys like Mbappe and Griezmann above him this year is insulting...

So what? Those awards were always given to those who won big titles in that year. Cannavaro won it in 2006 despite showing his class only at the WC and failing at Real afterwards. Ronaldo even won the Ballon D'or in 2013 despite having not a single great game except for those two WC qualifiers against Sweden..
And regarding Griezmann: He won EL and WC and was a key member of both teams, what else should he have done?
Where was Ronaldo against Bayern and Liverpool? Where was he against Uruguay? I don't remember that the "best" player in the world in those games, thankfully he had Benzema and Bale who saved his ass
He wasn't the best player this year (especially compared to his last years) and simply didn't deserve to win the trophy..

I agree, Messi should have won the award, since he was the best player over the whole year...

Well, if he played better, then Atletico wouldn't have even been in the Europa League in the first place, to even list that trophy next to the World Cup should be embarrassing to Griezmann. Where was he against Qarabag for example? That's a lot worse than doing nothing against Bayern and Liverpool, plus Ronaldo got 3 goals and an assist against both Juventus and PSG, and has been a lot better this season than Griezmann has. Simply, there is no argument that anyone has been better than Messi and Ronaldo this year, I know people like to pretend others are better to make it look like Messi and Ronaldo aren't two of the best players of all time, but on a weekly basis, nobody even comes close and hasn't at any point in the last 10 years. The top 3 should be Messi, Ronaldo and Griezmann in that order, guys like Modric and Varane shouldn't even be in the top 10. It's the same story as always, putting the World Cup over the rest of the year, just like when Kopa won it in 58 and Di Stefano wasn't even nominated...

Atrocious that Mbappé was placed better than Messi, or that Kanté was placed below the top 10 and this Harry Kane was placed ahead of him.

Understandably, many sets made for players pre50 with SB, CMF and AMF (Could be any SWP and WB in there too?) assigned as main positions, i suggest to change them for another more relatable for the era they played (like CB for defenders, DMF for midfielders and SS for those mezzapunta in those Italians sets made by Simcav for example).

Btw, I'm already working in these two teams, not much to do, just only update some things.

Both definitions are acceptable.

EDIT

It also could be related to his speed on some occasions.
