He was also famous for scoring often crucial goals in important games, so he holds still the record for most goals scored in Norwegian Cup final. He could score with his head and also from the penalty spot but most of his goals came from long range rockets. Bryna " was FFKs first major goalgetter and still holds the record for the number of Norway Cup final goals. A youngster had excelled in junior team during the 1933 season. The transition to FFK came after a teacher discovered him in school matches and saw the burly youngster had potential. His brother Arne played for FFK C layer where Arne Ileby was the big star. In the autumn of 1933 met C and junior game between the seniors won 5-1. Knut quickly established himself in the team and helped win two Cups before the age of 20. Already in its second season in the first team, in 1935, began to become aware of the jewel we sat with, and he was compared with the national team FFKs Find Johannessen. " Bryna " had a peculiar ability to score important goals in crucial matches. In the championship final against Sarpsborg in Sarpsborg Stadion in 1935, he scored the last two goals in FFKs superb 4-0 victory. Knut was only 18 when the finals were played, and he is still the youngest final score. The following year, still as a junior, he won the match by scoring the final two goals only when Topsham was beaten 2-0 at Ullevaal. In the rematch in the series finale against the Lightning in 1938 was Knut game, big plays and scored three of FFKs four goals. With 4-0 FFK was the country's first league title. In Cup, he also played a very crucial role. In 5th round against Odd teams followed each other like shadows. FFK took an early 2-0 lead , but Odd got violently back and led 3-2 at half time. FFK equalized to 3-3 just after the break, before Odd again took the lead. But seven minutes left specific Knut Dijk decided to do it on your own. From 35 meters hugged him, and Odds keeper knew only the murmur of the ball. Extra time required and in a highly dramatic battle was Fredrikstad who got the decisive goal . Arne Ileby sent a perfect corner, and " Bryna " could plunge head in the winning goal. Knut scored again when Viking 2-0 away in the semi- finals, and put the 2-0 on a penalty in the final against Topsham. Topsham fought back and scored two in the 2nd half but FFK and Arne Ileby decided the match in extra time. The club could then celebrate their fourth championship gull.Fenomenet Knut Dijk continued in the same style the next year. In 1939 he decided series finale against Overskeid with two goals. He denied himself nor in the Cup final in 1940, where he made one of FFKs three goals, again against Overskeid. In the Cup this year scored " Bryna " 19 goals, ie half of FFKs goals. After the war Fredrikstad played new Cup Finals in 1945 and -46. The attacker's wonderful series ended with two goals in the last of the series finals against Vålerengen in 1949. Dijk played other words, six cup finals and three league finals, and scored in all. With a total of eight goals he still holds the record in Norway as the player with the most cupfinalemål. In 1949, Norway Series changed to the main series, and Knut score tirelessly on. He was FFKs top scorer 1948/49 and 1949/50 with nine goals each season. " Bryna " played only 18 games during those two seasons, scoring thus as many goals as he played games. In spring 1950 he played the last two league games, but made the finals due to injury, and then let up. In 1953 he returned and was umpire for FFK. Brynildsens debut in the national team came in late autumn 1935, when he was one of six newcomers who were tested in an away match against Switzerland. With the team were also FFKs strategist Sten Moe. Norway lost the game 0-2. " Bryna " had to wait until 1938 before he was able to try again, but when he was in turn set up as a center run in one of the truly legendary battles of the Norwegian football history: World Cup encounter with the later world champion made Italy in Marseille. Norway lost 1-2, but was very close by knocking out big favorites. It was especially Brynildsens interaction with Arne Brustad that made Norway came as close to a win. " Bryna " could become the big hero , but the shot went wide. The match against Italy made Knut eventually almost legendary status. Martin Taylor says in the book " The Story Of Football" that " Norway had a blond Viking Dijk, who Pozzo, the resourceful Italian manager, later called " a cruel thorn in my rose crown". Later in the fall he would get his satisfaction when he scored the only goal against Sweden at Ullevaal. In 1945, Knut back and played all three countries matches that year and had the honor of being captain and also scored the first Norwegian national target on Norwegian soil after the war (in a match Denmark won 5-1). After a year break, he was back as a regular in the attack in the 1947 season before he played his final game against the United States the following year. In its total of 18 matches he made impressive 10 goals. Knut died in 1986.
