Anders Limpar is former Swedish midfielder. He was very talented but also sometimes lazy player, mainly playing on laft or right side of midfield but also in the middle. Limpar was very fast and agile, especially on the ball, had very good close control, solid shot and good passing range. But never managed to respect team tactics which put him on the bench many times. In 1971 Limpar began his club career as a soccer player and joined the youth wing of the Spårvägens GoIF. The age of eight he joined the youth team of the traditional club AIK, but remained here only until late 1977. He then moved to Stockholm IF Brommapojkarna local competitors, which is known for its youth work. Here he went through the various youth teams and moved on as a young player of the then second division in the men's squad. There, the authorities discovered the Gothenburg club Örgryte IS coming talent Limpar. The reigning Swedish champions lured the players in early 1986 in the Allsvenskan, where he established himself immediately as a regular player. On the side of Jan Hellström, Conny Karlsson, Sven Andersson, Gunnar Samuelsson and he got into 19 games on the field and scored five goals this season. Nevertheless, the success of the previous year are not repeated and the club found itself in a table just before the ninth relegation places. The U-21 national team, however, moved into the senior national team squad. Under coach Olle Nordin made his debut in April 1987 with a 3-1 away victory against the Soviet selection and wearing next to a two-time scorers Mats Magnusson on the scoresheet. He subsequently established himself in the squad of a national team, he initially remained mostly the role of the replacement player. In the season 1987 the club was in the middle of the league, but was able to report back the following year in the title fight. In the summer of 1988 he also took junior national team coach Benny Lennartsson with the Olympic Games in Seoul. In the first game even substitute players, he benefited from a sending off for Jonas Thern and moved into midfield in the following games the national team. On the side of Roger Ljung, Hans Eskilsson, Joakim Nilsson, Martin Dahlin and Leif Engqvist, he moved with the team after a draw against Tunisia and victory over the Olympic selections from China and the Federal Republic of Germany as group winners into the quarter-finals, there ended the game against the Italian team led by Massimo Mauro, Ruggiero Rizzi Telli and Ciro Ferrara, a goal from Massimo Crippa in the extension of the medal dreams. Following the tournament left Limpar OEIS and moved abroad. In the Swiss club BSC Young Boys, he met his fellow countryman Tord Grip, who worked as a trainer. On the side of Peter Közle, Uwe Rapolder and Rene Sutter, he reached the championship finals, which was completed as a table in fifth. In parallel with the Swedish national team, he returned back to the forefront of the national teams. While he was in the course of the qualification largely been only a reserve player, but the team had qualified for Glenn Hysén, Klas Ingesson, Peter Larsson and Johnny Ekström unbeaten as group winners ahead of England World Cup finals for the 1990. This was enough for the Italian club Cremonese reference to Limpar in November 1989 to lure in the Serie A. Under coach Tarcisio Burgnich he became the Erstligaaufsteiger Although at first as a player and played 24 games this season, despite the commitment of players like Gustavo Dezotti or Fulvio Bonomi was the team of Giuseppe Favalli, Enrico Piccioni and Dario Marcolin in the top division a chance and got a table next to last right again. However, the Swede had been established in the spring of 1990 in the country and was therefore selected 22 players to complete roster for the World Cup tournament in the summer. The first two tournament games against Brazil and Scotland, he was in the starting lineup, after each defeat, however, remained 1:2 coach Nordin forced for the last group game against the team of Costa Rica to switch the setup. Without Contribute Limpars was also this game is lost, so that the selection took an early trip home. Following the tournament Limpar joined the English First Division. Under coach George Graham, he was also on the island right away and took a regular player on the side of Nigel Winterburn, David Seaman, Tony Adams and Steve Bould with his first title of the championship, to which he contributed eleven goals this season. So it was agreed after internal Alan Smith, who landed with his 22 season hits and the Golden Boot as top scorer, and third-leading scorer Paul Merson. At the end of the year honored the Svenska Fotbollförbundet Aftonbladet and its services, and crowned him Player of the Year in Sweden. After the season he also appeared with the national team at the European Championship finals in 1992, which was held in his home country. The supervised by Tommy Svensson surprise selection as group winners and had favored the British and the French national team and the underdog Denmark behind. In the group stage, even apart from Stefan Schwarz, Tomas Brolin, Klas Ingesson and Patrik Andersson in the starting lineup, he was sitting by the semi-final match against Germany at first only on the substitutes' bench. After the enemy, a 2-0 intermediate guide had earned, he replaced from the 59th Minute Joakim Nilsson. With a 2:3 defeat, he left with the team from the competition.During the following season injured Limpar, while the crew of both Arsenal in the FA Cup and reached the final in the League Cup. Was defeated as a spectator, he watched the first cup double of the English football history, as each of the final opponents Sheffield Wednesday. After his recovery he could not hold more permanently in the starting eleven and fluctuated between field and bench. In February 1994, Limpar decided to change clubs and joined by 17 goals in 76 Premier League games for Arsenal for a transfer fee in the amount of 1.6 million pounds of the League rivals Everton. With his new club he played against relegation from the Premier League, only on the final day, the team coached by Mike Walker escaped with a 3-2 victory over Wimbledon - a between 0:2 temporal residue - as Limpar one hand, inflicted a penalty for handball and the other with a Schwalbe provoked a penalty, which ushered in the turning point. As for Arsenal Limpar also fluctuated in the national team between the starting lineup and reserve player existence. After he had accumulated during the last few preseason games for the World Cup finals in 1994, the Swedish selection had qualified as group winners ahead of Bulgaria, only as a substitute, he found himself well in the tournament opener on the bench. At best, with his moral support, the team played with Henrik Larsson, Thomas Ravelli, Roland Nilsson, Tomas Brolin, Martin Dahlin and Kennet Andersson semi-finals of the tournament. There he watched the 0-1 defeat against Brazil with a late goal by Romario also from the edge of the field before it in the final game for third place as a substitute for Henrik Larsson in a 4-0 win over Bulgaria World Cup just over ten minutes Game time was given. In the subsequent Premier League season with the club was Limpar in a relegation battle again. After the team at Walker won none of the first twelve games of the season, the club undertook with a new coach Joe Royle. Under his leadership, the club moved back into midfield in the league, but due to fluctuating Limpar was no lasting benefits more regular players. Nevertheless, he ran for the club in the summer of 1995 in the Cup final against Manchester United on the favored. After Limpar had initiated a counterattack, which led to the 1-0 lead by Paul Rideout, Manchester United dominated the game but could not overcome goalkeeper Neville Southall. Although the stay ended in the European Cup in the second round against Feyenoord Rotterdam , the club played in the league but to qualify for the UEFA Cup. With three goals in 28 games of the season while Limpar was next to the newly committed Kantschelskis Andrei, who was placed with 16 goals season among the top five scorers of the season, Daniel Amokachi and David Unsworth to the permanent employees. Ultimately, the team missed two points behind Aston Villa and Arsenal as the sixth table entry in the European Cup. After Limpar was the beginning of the game 1996/97 season came only sporadically used, he lost a hand, his place in the Swedish national team and decided to change clubs on the other. In January 1997 he joined the second division Birmingham City. Even here it was mainly the role of the spare man, until the end of the season he ran in four league games for the club. In the season 1998, he pointed to the left winger's talent and led the trained by Stuart Baxter club alongside Tomas Gustafsson, Thomas Lagerlöf, Mike Kjølø, Michael Brundin, Patrik Fredholm and Johan Mjallby for the tenth title in club history. His end of the season expiring contract was not renewed. Limpar decided to go abroad and re-joined the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. His stay in the United States, however, was marred by injuries, so that in less than half the game was used. In 1999 the team reached to Marcelo Balboa, Paul Bravo and Jorge Dely Valdes, the final game of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup without his involvement, she lost against the Rochester Raging Rhinos. In the fall of 2000 returned Limpar back to Sweden and settled in Stockholm. Although he initially trained with the team of AIK, the club decided not to an obligation. Therefore, he signed a contract with local rivals Djurgarden, due to lack of fitness, however, he decided before the start of the season of 2001 to withdraw from competitive sports. He joined the third division IF Brommapojkarna Stockholm, which he ascended at the end of the season in the Allsvenskan.
