INFO:Válter Marciano de Queiroz, known as Válter Marciano, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a midfielder and forward. He began his professional career with São Caetano E.C. in 1950 and was soon transferred to Ypiranga, where he played right midfielder and eventually excelled in the 1952 São Paulo State Championship, which resulted in his loan to Santos F.C. in 1953. For Santos, Válter Marciano made 114 appearances and scored 45 goals. In 1955, he was signed by Vasco da Gama, and won the Rio de Janeiro State Championship in 1956. He rose to prominence during Vasco's European tours in subsequent years, with his meteoric career marked by his performance in Vasco's victory over Real Madrid in the final of the 1957 Paris International Tournament, scoring two goals in a 4-3 victory over Real Madrid at the Parc des Princes. In 1958, he transferred to Valencia for 2 million and 400 thousand pesetas. After three years with the Spanish club, on June 21, 1961, after a head-on collision with a truck traveling the wrong way on the road between Valencia and Alicante, Válter Marciano died in a car accident. Players Luis Coli and Sócrates Berenguer, who were in the vehicle, suffered only minor injuries.
