Santos, a Brazilian goalkeeper developed by Athletico Paranaense, built a solid and successful career marked by consistency, reliability, and professionalism. Coming through the youth ranks of the Furacão, he made his first-team debut in 2011 but only established himself as the undisputed starter around 2018, in a more mature phase of his career. From that point on, he became a key figure in the club’s most historic campaigns, having a decisive role in winning of Copa Sudamericana in both 2018 and 2021, and Copa do Brasil in 2019. With crucial saves and a calm demeanor under pressure, Santos quickly earned national and international recognition with individual prizes as best goalkeeper in both Campeonato Brasileiro 2019 and Copa Sudamericana 2021.

His playing style has always been defined by good sense of positioning, sharp game-reading skills, and quick reflexes. Although not flashy, he was quite effective, consistently performing well in high-pressure matches. He also stood out for his ball-playing ability — particularly his distribution and footwork — an increasingly valued trait in modern football that attracted attention from bigger clubs, such as Flamengo and Palmeiras.

In 2022, Santos signed with Flamengo, as the clube was in need of new goalkeeper, due to age and recurring injuries of Diego Alves and because then young Hugo Souza was still too green. He soon secured the position in the starter team and became one of the key figures in the team's Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores titles that year. His performances in the decisive stages of the continental competition were particularly praised, bringing confidence and security to the back line. Though not a media favorite, Santos played an essential role in Flamengo's defensive stability during a season of major triumphs, despite the team's as a whole performance below in relation to 2019.

However, by mid-2023, Santos entered a very bad phase, making mistakes and silly errors that cost important points in the Brazilian Championship and he eventually lost his position to the newly arrived Rossi and was later traded to Fortaleza in 2024, where he also failed to establish himself as a starter and returned to Athlético Paranaense for the 2025 Série B. Santos was called up to the Brazilian NT a few times, and notably, he was the starting goalkeeper during Brazil's gold medal campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021). Even though he had limited opportunities with the senior national team afterwards, with only 6 appearances for the Seleção Brasileira.
