INFO:Ali Hussein was a central or left side midfielder. He played only for Al-Talaba from 1978 to 1995. He gained 73 caps for Iraq, scoring 13 goals, taking part to the 1982 Asian Games, 1984 Olympics and 1986 FIFA World Cup.
A regular in the Iraq national team during the 1980s, Hussein was a hardworking and uncompromising midfielder. One of the most prominent and most skilled Iraqi players at the time, he was renowned for his graceful touch of the ball that reminded the one of Brazilian players. Gifted with a short physique, he wasn't strong, possessed good pace and dribbling, fine passing ability, took corners and could deliver thunderous shots, also from long range, with both feet that he used equally well. He pushed forward a lot, reaching the opposing box when he had space. He also was able at recovering the ball, snatching it from his opponents.
