INFO:

Jim Brogan spent 12 years at Celtic, although it took him until 1968 at the age of 24 for him to lock down a starting place in the team. He originally played at sweeper next to Billy McNeill, taking this position after John Clark was injured, and never letting him back into the team. From 1971 onwards he played as a left back, replacing Tommy Gemmell, and in that year he won all 4 of his Scotland caps in the same position. He wasn't a remarkable defender but he was fairly consistent and always gave his best. He was especially known for his tough tackling and fighting attitude, although this often led to him giving away lots of fouls. This aggressive and active style of defending made him a good partner for McNeill who mostly focused on positional play, leaving Brogan to chase the ball like a terrier. He was pretty decent on the ball too and could be relied on to keep possession and distribute the ball effectively, although he didn't try many difficult passes and didn't go forward too often when playing at full back. As a first team player with Celtic he won 7 consecutive league titles and played in the 1970 European Cup final. While he wasn't one of the more notable players in that team his defensive contributions are fondly remembered and he was respected by all for his perseverance and no-nonsense attitude.

Updated a little bit, he went forward more often than I initially thought, even when playing in the centre of defence.
