Aloísio is considered by many football experts as well as Porto fans as one of the best Porto center backs ever. He played for Porto for 11 very successful years. He won 7 Portuguese league titles and 5 Portuguese cups. He reached Champions league semifinals with the club in 1994. Ha also won Cup Winners Cup with Barcelona in 1989. In Porto he has a legendary status. He was a classy center back, who could play as defensive midfielder or side back as needed. His biggest assets were his defensive positioning and incredible reactions when intercepting passes or when in one on one situations. He had perfectly timed tackles. He had decent technical abilities which he used successfully when his team is in the attack. His leap was one of his weaknesses, even though he scored some great headers, but it happened from time to time that he just can't jump enough to reach the ball from the cross that eventually results with opposition's goal. Also, he could out of nowhere get in argument with the referee. He was capped only six times for Brazilian NT. Even though, there were some great players at his position in NT during his prime, I couldn't help but notice that he maybe deserved to play more...
