INFO:
Enrique Hormazábal was a right side midfielder or right winger who played for Santiago Morning and Colo-Colo. Considered one of the best ever Chilean footballers, he was a talented playmaker who triggered the actions of the forwards especially with his famous pases de 40 metros. He was one of the quickest players in Chile and had superb tactical intelligence, technique, stamina, malice but he was also a fantastic scorer with 113 goals in around 230 matches for Colo-Colo and 17 in 47 for Chile. Many goals came from free kicks which were one of his specialties. He would've played and scored even more if it wasn't for physical problems and extra-football conflicts. He was 1956 Copa América top scorer and won with Colo-Colo the Primera División three times and the Copa Chile once. He's been one of the most complete and versatile players with great vision of the field, the teammates, the opponents, the ball. Moreover he had the toughness to face and block the attacking opponents. Ex-footballer Rodolfo Almeyda said about him that his distribution of the ball would be something to emulate for many while another ex-footballer Jorge Toro said that Chile would've won the FIFA World Cup if Hormazábal was part of the squad. The reason why the midfielder wasn't part of the team it's because coach Fernando Riera wanted to adapt him to another position and the player refused, never coming back to wear the Chilean jersey.
