INFO:
Mandorlini was mainly a defensive midfielder who could also cover all the defensive positions but full-back was apparently the role he played better in, especially on the left side. He was left footed but was able with the right foot as well. He had strong physique and good defensive ability but he wasn't rare that he got anticipated by an opponent; he pushed forward a lot, with or without the ball on his feet, mostly to send good crosses that often led to a goal or to try being dangerous with headings or occasionally to try the shot from the distance; he was a player with determination who gave a lot of effort even when playing in less usual positions like sweeper or centre back.
His career began in 1978 at Torino. He also played for Atalanta and Udinese. He had his best seasons at Inter, playing 278 matches and scoring 13 goals between 1984 and 1991. Before joining the Nerazzurri, he had three good seasons with Ascoli, playing 90 games and scoring 6 times. He retired in 1993 and never capped for Italy despite he was most times a regular starter at Inter and in a certain period he was even preferred to Daniel Passarella because the Argentinian wasn't considered ready yet when he just arrived.
