He is a highly accomplished and commanding central defender who has played a vital role in the modern era of Guatemalan football, balancing dominant domestic stints with a distinguished European run and key national team leadership.
Having the American nationality, he start his professional career in New England Revolution in 2018 and Las Vegas Lights in the same year, Samayoa returned home to Guatemala in January 2019 to sign with Comunicaciones FC, establishing himself over the next four years as a rock-solid fixture in their backline.
He was a major protagonist in the historic side that lifted the 2021 CONCACAF League title. A few months later, during the 2021–22 CONCACAF Champions League, he memorably scored the decisive 7th penalty in a high-stakes shootout against MLS side Colorado Rapids. He followed these continental exploits by helping Comunicaciones claim the 2022 Clausura domestic championship.
In July 2023, capitalizing on a stellar international tournament run, Samayoa fulfilled his dream of playing in Europe by signing with FC Politehnica Iași in the Romanian Liga I.
His two years in Romania were highly successful. He adapted quickly to the physical nature of European football, making over 60 appearances, scoring a goal, and eventually earning the honor of captaining the side in multiple matches before his contract concluded in mid-2025.
In July 2025, Samayoa made one of the most talked-about moves in recent Guatemalan football history by returning to the country to sign with Comunicaciones’ arch-rivals, CSD Municipal.

For 2026, Samayoa won over the fans immediately with his commitment and top-tier experience. His impact culminated in the Clausura 2026 tournament, where he anchored the defense to lead Municipal to their historic 33rd Liga Nacional championship, a title he publicly described as the most special of his professional career.
On the international stage, Samayoa evolved into an indisputable pillar for Guatemala. By the mid-2020s, he was widely recognized as the defensive marshal of the national team under Luis Fernando Tena. He consistently played every single minute of crucial tournaments—such as the 2023 and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cups—and stood as a fundamental figure in guiding Guatemala's tactical setup through intense CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying campaigns.
