Left-footed attacking midfielder with very refined technique and flair, Izaguirre became one of Alajuelense’s biggest idols and is often remembered as the club’s last great No.10. Formed at Independiente and with experience in South America, he arrived to Costa Rica as a proven offensive midfielder and quickly stood out for his exquisite first touch, vision and ability to combine gambetas, backheels and through balls to unlock tight games.
He was not a sprinter in the mould of a winger, but in his prime he was notably quick over the first meters and brave enough to constantly face defenders, playing both centrally and drifting to the flanks. With Alajuelense he was a key figure in multiple league titles and the 2003–04 Concacaf Champions’ Cup run, running the game between the lines, linking with strikers and taking responsibility on set-pieces and penalties. This set aims to reflect a top-level playmaker for CONCACAF standards: very high passing and technique, good mobility and agility, but low pace and physicality, so he plays as a true creative brain rather than an all-round athlete.
