Agustín Rossi is an Argentine footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Born in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (21/08/1995), he spent all his formative years at Chacarita Juniors, where he made his professional debut in 2013. In 2014, he became a key player in the promotion to the 2015 Primera B Nacional. In January 2015, he was transferred to Club Estudiantes de La Plata, which paid $600,000 for 50% of his transfer rights. After failing to secure playing time as a starter, in 2016, he joined the Defensa y Justicia squad on loan for a year. He was then sold to Boca Juniors, where Rossi maintained his good performances from the early games throughout the championship, displacing Axel Werner from the starting eleven. He continued to perform at a high level throughout 2017, eventually winning the starting position over Sara, who was relegated to the bench. However, in 2018, he started to face criticism due to some poor performances, especially in the 2-0 defeat against Brazil's Palmeiras in the 2018 Copa Libertadores, where Rossi was at fault for the second Brazilian goal, among other mistakes. With the arrival of Esteban Andrada to the team, who made great saves, he lost his starting position. After an injury to Andrada against Brazil's Cruzeiro in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, Rossi had to replace him on September 23 in the Superclásico against River, which his team lost 2-0 at La Bombonera. With Rossi in goal, Boca reached the final of the Copa Libertadores, where they faced their arch-rivals, River Plate. In his second stint at Boca, Rossi became vital for the team, especially for his penalty-saving abilities. In March 2022, he had a great performance against River Plate at the Monumental stadium, helping Boca secure a 1-0 victory; he was recognized for his work and great saves. In May of the same year, Boca faced Racing Club in the semifinals of the 2022 Copa de la Liga, with a 0-0 draw leading to penalties. Rossi saved a key penalty from Enzo Copetti, resulting in a final score of 6-5. In June of the same year, Rossi once again stood out, this time in the first leg of the round of 16 of the 2022 Copa Libertadores against S.C. Corinthians, where he saved a penalty at the end of the first half. In the second leg, Boca drew 0-0 with Corinthians, the same result as in the first leg, leading to a penalty shootout. Agustín saved two of the six penalties. Nevertheless, Rossi became that night the third goalkeeper with the most penalties saved in the history of Boca Juniors, with a tally of 15, behind Navarro Montoya (20) and Roberto Abbondanzieri (24). In August of the same year, Rossi failed to reach an agreement for the renewal of his contract with the Boca leadership. Following this, Boca signed goalkeeper Sergio Romero, indicating that the starting goalkeeper would move to another club. Up to this point in the year, Rossi had achieved 14 clean sheets in 29 appearances with the club. In the same month, he also saved another penalty to keep the goal at 0 against Rosario Central. With that penalty save, he became the goalkeeper with the most penalties saved (16) in the world in the last six seasons.
