INFO:
Nacho Piatti is an Argentinian former footballer who played as a left-midfielder, advanced midfielder, or winger. Born in General Baldissera, Córdoba (04/02/1985), Piatti began his professional career in 2004 at Chacarita Juniors, aged 19. In January 2006 he traveled to France, where he spent a brief period at AS Saint-Étienne, only playing 4 games and no goals scored. In mid-2006 he would return to his native country to play for Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, in the Argentine First Division. This club would be his first experience in the top category and he would debut on February 9, 2007, in a 0-2 defeat against Arsenal de Sarandí. In Gimnasia he would play a total of 81 games until 2009 and score 10 goals. After a brief dispute between Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and the player, on August 6, 2009, the judge who was hearing Piatti's dispute with Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata ruled in favor of the player and that same night he went to the headquarters of C.A. Independiente, a club with which he played on loan for one season and without a purchase option. Piatti scored the 5000th goal in Independiente's history in a match against Estudiantes that ended 3-2. On August 5, 2010, he was presented as a reinforcement by the Italian Serie A club US Lecce. This would be his second spell in Europe after having played for Saint-Étienne. In the Italian club, he did not have much continuity: in two years with the team, he would play 36 games and barely score 3 goals. On August 16, 2012, after rejecting offers from other Argentine football greats such as River Plate, Independiente and Racing Club, Piatti signed for one year with Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro. In San Lorenzo, Piatti would be considered one of the best players in Argentina: he was a very important pillar in winning the 2013 Torneo Inicial, and throughout 2014 he demonstrated great qualities; So much so, that he was nominated for the Olimpia de Plata for the best footballer in Argentine football and Conmebol chose him that year in its Best Team in South America. On July 1, 2014, Piatti signed as a free player with the Montreal Impact of MLS, signing a four-year contract. He joined the Canadian team on August 7 of that year, because Piatti was playing in the Copa Libertadores for San Lorenzo. He could only play the first leg of the final since the MLS market to register players closed on August 8 and the second leg of the final was held on the 13th of that same month; nonetheless, San Lorenzo won the Copa Libertadores and Piatti was still awarded the medal. In Montréal, Piatti would make history: he would become the Canadian franchise's all-time top scorer, he would be called up to the MLS All-Star Game twice, in 2016 and 2017, and he would also be part of the MLS Best XI on two occasions, 2016 and 2018. In 2020, Piatti, after almost 6 seasons in the MLS, decided to return to San Lorenzo, being officially announced on February 12 of that year. Unfortunately, he had very little playing time, playing only 9 games and scoring one goal. Finally, Nacho Piatti put an end to his career in 2021 at the age of 36, playing for Racing Club.
