Mario Bolatti is an Argentinian former defensive midfielder who could also play as a center-midfielder. Born in La Para, Córdoba (17/02/1985), Bolatti began his career playing for Belgrano de Córdoba in the Primera B Nacional in 2003. In 2006 he achieved promotion to the First Division of Argentina, being one of the most outstanding players on his team. In his first season in the first division, 2006 Torneo Apertura, Bolatti was one of the best in the tournament and was sought by C.A. Independiente and Juventus, although the board of the Córdoba club decided not to transfer him. In 2007, after Belgrano was relegated from the Argentine top division and already having many difficulties in retaining him, Bolatti was transferred to FC Porto in Portugal. With this club he won the first title of his career, the Portuguese First Division 2007/08. In January 2009, after not being considered to be part of the Porto squad, Bolatti returned to Argentine football, to wear the C.A. Huracán shirt, on loan for six months, free of charge and without a purchase option. On the first date of the 2009 Clausura Tournament against San Martín de Tucumán, Bolatti scored the only goal of the game with a header that deflected the trajectory of the ball thrown by his teammate Patricio Toranzo. He was considered one of the best players in the tournament, and his team finished in second position after a title match with refereeing scandals. On January 1st, 2010, his loan with the Parque Patricios club expired, so he returned to the professional team of FC Porto in Portugal. When the manager of that institution stated that Bolatti would not be taken into account, the player joined the Italian Serie A club ACF Fiorentina for €3.5 million. After a good year in Italy, On February 6th, 2011, Bolatti joined SC Internacional of the Brazilian Série A for €4.5 million, where he would win 5 championships, including a Recopa Sudamericana. After two years at the club from Rio Grande do Sul, Bolatti was transferred to Racing Club of the First Division of Argentina, on loan for six months, with a fee of $100.000 and a high purchase option. In addition, the possibility of extending his loan for six more months. At the end of his loan at Racing Club, he returned to Internacional who sold his transfer to Botafogo. During his time at the Rio club, he played 42 games, scoring 4 goals, and his team was relegated after an irregular campaign. After being released from Botafogo, with the pass in his possession, and without receiving any offers from overseas, he returned to the club from which he emerged and is a fan, Belgrano de Córdoba, on a 2-year loan. In July 2017 he was released, without being taken into account in Belgrano, and signed for Boca Unidos de Corrientes, in the Primera B Nacional, where he would finally finish his professional career aged 33.

He made his debut with the Argentine National Team, and as a starter, in a friendly match played in Moscow against the Russian National Team on August 12th, 2009, whose score would be 3-2 in favor of Argentina. On October 14, 2009, for the South American Qualifiers, Bolatti entered in the 34th minute of the second half of the match against Uruguay at the Estadio Centenario, replacing Gonzalo Higuaín. Five minutes later he scored a goal, ensuring the Argentine National Team qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
