Defence-MindedINFO:Alcides Píccoli is a former center-back. Born in Santa Fe, Argentina (16/02/1978), Píccoli started his career in 1996, for Colón de Santa Fe. He stayed in the club for 12 years, leaving the club in 2008 after 224 games and 2 goals. After leaving Colón, Píccoli arrived at Cerro Porteño as a highly anticipated signing, although his performance disappointed fans, having played only 14 games. After this spell in the Paraguayan League, Píccoli played in lower leagues for teams such as Gimnasia y Esgrima (J), Juan Aurich, Tiro Federal (Cba.) and Andino SC. He retired aged 34.
Despite not having played any game for the National Team, in 2007, coach Alfio Basile placed him in a pre-selection for the Copa América that year, although he was ultimately not selected for the tournament. During his prime, Píccoli was one of the fastest defenders in Argentina. His twelve-year spell with Colón is unprecedented in the Santa Fe club, and he is considered as one of Colón's greatest center-backs ever.
