Cachinita, as he was known, rose to the top category of the port club at the age of 17. He played there until 1931, leaving for Alianza Frigorífico for two years, which was the only interval that his history with the pink team had. Upon returning to Boys in 1933 he settled in as a central defender alongside Guillermo Pardo. According to reports from that time, Chappell had great solvency, he was technical and correct in his interventions, and he did not need restricted resources to mark his rival. In 1935 he won the national championship, being the leader of the defense and the first captain of the pink team.
In just five years, Chappell would win two national titles, a Bolivarian championship and a South American championship: a gold and silver resume that spoke of the quality of the defender, who a few years later, and at only 28 years old, was forced to retire due to a serious meniscus injury.
He was a defensive player who played as a right central defender
