Yes, this is how DEF is rated on this site and I've been thinking that for a long time, too. But I've tested Goalkeepers with DEF 1, GKS 99 and RES 99 and I never noticed any significant change in their behaviour. They made fantastic saves, nonetheless. If DEF meant positioning then they would be extremely bad at stopping shots from distance, especially, because they wouldn't reach the ball due to bad positioning. But this effect only occured when I gave them low GKS, not low DEF. But PSD's defintion of DEF (=ability to stop the ball with doesn't matter which body part) did not convince me, neither because, imo, GKS not only affects the save's quality itself which means catching the ball or clearing it out of the danger zone, but also the keeper's ability to do these insane double or triple saves.

Yes, you're right. I've noticed the same. GKS is the key ability for the Keeper, almost everything depends on it and RES concerning the keepers. Rating DEF=postioning for the keepers is the wrong thing to do IMO, in the game it seems it doesn't work like that.

I've got one question concerning a possible best ever squad in history: If you had to choose between Scirea, Figueroa and Passarella as a substitute which one would you take? Personally, I've always considered Scirea to be the best out of these three players, by far, and I'm happy to see him as a starting CB in this site's All Time All Stars Team as well as in Europe's All Star Team. But in many player and defender rankings, for example the ones by xtratime, xtraimmortal, bigsoccer etc. as well as in IFFHS's player of the century rankings Passarella and Figueroa are listed higher than him, in most cases, which I honestly cannot comprehend, entirely. So I am very curious to read your opinions concerning this topic.

I think Scirea is underrated by football fans worldwide, by either both new or old genearation, that's all i guess ..

Honestly no it is a gameplay stuff you know, i rather put some "muscle" there for defense, Kohler (arguably the best marker ever) and Thuram (one of the greatest, if not, the greatest defensive RB ever with class as Bergomi belongs to the CB's instead) would be ahead of the 3 mentioned by you, as i have probably Baresi, Maldini or Beckenbauer in the pecking order.. But if i have to make an "all time squad", Scirea surely would have his place there ..

Probably the best was Bergomi. For offensive cualities we have already the SMF and the WF Although my favourite is Chendo, he was physical and complete player with strong leader mind
