Not exactly, Rosetta has been a great player for Italy but he should be out for another motivation: in modern football he would be sweeper and we have already Baresi and Scirea.
If our criterium is national performance Cannavaro should be in for sure, amazing in 2006 but very good in 1998 (not against Salas  ) and in 2000. Nesta was surely better than Cannavaro but he was very unlucky and always injuried so Fabio has reached higher performances than him.

Of course Rosetta was a great player for Italy and Juventus, but Cannavaro was both a better player and played amazingly for Italy. Also, Bergomi could also play sweeper, so there really is no use for Rosetta in this team as even in-game he is much worse than the other central defenders. I agree about Nesta though, he was incredibly unlucky to get injured in all three World Cups he played in, although I don’t think he could have got Zidane sent off the same way Materazzi did so maybe it was for the best

I think Barzagli and/or Chiellini earned the spot here, more than Ferrara, they are not inferior to him.

I agree with Cannavaro.
The most important player in 2006 WC champion.
Nothing more to say

Good update. Although Orsi... I wouldn't put oriundi in the first team.

This team needed a left winger and Orsi was by far the best option. Regardless of his place of birth, he was hugely important for Italy, especially at the 1934 World Cup.
