Youngest World Cup Winners All Stars

The selected players have won a World Cup between 17 and 23 years of age. Only those who played at least one game in their respective World Cup have been chosen. Priority has been given to those who played most matches as regular starter with an exception for the goalkeepers since Bodo Illgner is the only one who won a World Cup and played at least one match (he played all of them). At least one player per winning national team is part of the 23-men squad. Giuseppe Meazza is set as captain because he's the only player amongst the selected ones who won a World Cup as captain, even though he had that role in his second World Cup win.

I’m really not sure to be honest, it’s all up for debate. Götze, Peters and Ball all have strong claims to be in the first team, especially if you want a player from each nationality.

Exactly but if you replace Peters with Götze, the team would have no English players in the first squad. That's why I say Peters or Ball, unless you replace also Eckel. Gurkenjoe though surely can say more about him.

Eckel didn't miss a single minute in the 1954 WC and proved to be one of the key players in the Miracle of Bern by neutralizing Hidegkuti almost completely during that match. Usually Fritz Walter (as the captain), Toni Turek (because of his incredible saves) and Helmut Rahn (don't need to explain that, everybody knows the story of the "Boss" in the final) are named first when it comes to the heroes of Bern but the defensive contribution of Mai (against Kocsis), Liebrich (against Puskas) and Eckel (against Hidegkuti) was very important as well (of course you can't control one of the best attacking trios of all time for the whole game but Liebrich, Mai and Eckel did an excellent job there).
I'd even dare to say that Eckel was more crucial for Germany's WC win in 1954 than Busquets was in 2010 or Clodoaldo in 1970.
