Infos:

Roberto Bettega breaks a ligament of his left knee during a collision with Jacky Munaron, the goalkeeper of Anderlecht, during a European Cup match on 4 november 1981. Panini inserts him in Italian team in his World Cup 1982 album, because Enzo Bearzot, who wanted “Pena Bianca” at all costs, waited until May 24, 1982 to remove him from the list of reservists. In this alternative version, he was recovering in time from his injuries

Roberto Pruzzo, the "bomber" of Roma, was the top scorer of the last two championships before the spanish World Cup. Panini also included him in the Italian team in his album "España 82". Bearzot gives him a chance in the Paris friendly match against France on February 23, 1982, lost 2-0, and Pruzzo, although voluntary, did not shine. In the alternative version, the coach was convinced by the press campaign which demanded him instead of Selvaggi.

Since 1981, Evaristo Beccalossi was widely pushed by the sports newspapers for a selection in the national team, because of the disappointing results of the national team in friendly matches in preparation for the world cup. Bearzot, who found him nonchalant with a tendency to gain weight, did not call him in Spain. In this alternative version, he selects him to offer an offensive alternative to Antognoni.

At 25, Domenico Marocchino had his best season in 81-82 with the Juve, when he had to compensate for Bettega's injury. He made his national team debut on December 5, 1981 against the modest Luxembourgers. After a fast opening score, the italian team played poorly and Marrochino disappointed. However, he remains practically in the running until May, but Bearzot prefers veteran Franco Causio because of his excellent season at Udinese. In the alternative version, Marocchino is preferred to the declining Causio, aged 33.
