How many players from this last golden generation aren't named here?, just as a reminder.

I think Vargas and Matías Fernandez are the only players not here who probably should be, everyone else important looks like they’re there...

Updated.
First team:
Alexis Sanchez <-> Guillermo Subiabre

Reserves:
Removed Wirth since he was never a starter for Chile NT (that was Osben instead). IMO even another GK should be removed here, after all Chile surely hasn't such a great history of GKs that we need four GKs in reserves here. Suggestions are appreciated here.
Added Mark González, Matías Fernández, Eduardo Vargas and Gonzalo Jara to the reserves.
It would be good to add some Konami sets for those guys from the 2010s years, maybe El Capo (if he has time/motivation) could do that in the future..

I keep thinking that Bielsa should be named here, after all what he had done for this NT, most of the players from this last champion generation had been formed by Bielsa's management and he has been higly praised for that.

I don't know if its right place Medel here as a defender, he was used as one for a long time in the NT, but aside he's mainly a midfielder and he has been playing im that role in all his clubs.

Don't see a problem with Medel as a defender here, as long people don't list him as defenders at clubs.

Chile had its best World Cup result in 1962 with a third place and the worst result in 1982 with 0 points in the group stage. The team then had their best World Cup result since 1962 in 1998 when they played in the round-of-16, repeating themselves in 2010 and 2014. Regarding the Copa América, Chile had its best result in 1955, 1956 and 1987 finishing as runner-up before winning a double in the biennium 2015-2016.
Taking all this into consideration in addition to individual statistics and worldwide recognition of the players, I came up with this update, trying to get in the team players from many eras.

Spoiler: show
GOALKEEPERS:
Claudio BRAVO
Sergio LIVINGSTONE

DEFENDERS:
Antonio ARIAS (LB)
Luis EYZAGUIRRE (RB)
Elías FIGUEROA (SW/CB)
Mauricio ISLA (RB)
Gary MEDEL (CB)
Alberto QUINTANO (CB)
Sergio NAVARRO (LB)

* NAVARRO reportedly played 30 matches and was team captain in the historic 1962 World Cup campaign. Although, two valid alternatives in my opinion are Eugenio MENA (67 matches and winner of both Copa América titles) and Ulises POIRIER (member of the team who took part in the first World Cup in 1930 and regarded as one of Chile's greatest left backs, although I don't know if he ever played as proper left back considering the period).
* I'm aware that ISLA might be an unpopular choice due to his underwhelming career after he left Udinese but he has 136 caps for Chile, was a first choice in the 2010 and 2014 World Cup and most importantly in both Copa América winning teams.

MIDFIELDERS:
Jorge ARAVENA (AM)
Alberto FOUILLOUX (AM)
Enrique HORMAZÁBAL (RM)
Rubén MARCOS (CM/DM)
Eladio ROJAS (DM)
Francisco VALDÉS (AM)
Arturo VIDAL (DM/CM)

FORWARDS:
Carlos CASZELY (CF/SS/RW)
Jorge ROBLEDO (SS/CF)
Marcelo SALAS (CF/SS)
Alexis SÁNCHEZ (WF/CF)
Leonel SÁNCHEZ (LW)
Raúl TORO (CF/SS)
Iván ZAMORANO (CF)

RESERVES:

Great, this team really needed urgent update.
Only one suggestion: since this team will probably play 4-4-2 or 4-2-4 there are too many AMF/SS/CF, I think one of them should go to reserves and replaced by a RWF (maybe Araya).

Araya is a valid choice. Although, I prefer Jaime Ramírez who was featured as RWF in the 1962 World Cup and played also in the 1955 and 1956 Copa América.
I'd replace Raúl Toro who is recognized as one of the best Chilean forwards but he didn't have the same success with Chile as other players.

Regarding Chilean players from the last generation, I was always impressed by Edu Vargas. Average club player but when performing for the NT he transforms into the beast. Two Copa America trophies, both times included in the team of the tournament, both times competition's Top Scorers.

I know what you mean about his performance in the NT but as you said he is such an average player. I don't think it would be nice to have him among the 23. He played and still playing in Brazil now, being even in the reserves sometimes.

Yeah, Edu Vargas has always been an anomaly. If he had been that prolific with clubs too, he surely would be a valid choice for the first team.

Why are you taking his club career into this?
Then Messi should be outright placed on the Argentina XI just by his rep alone in world football.

I don't mean to say that the club career is a major factor, surely not for successful national teams.
I said that because the players in the first team showed the same class everywhere, contributing to the Chilean cause also at club level.

Idk but if the club performance and player level dont mean at all, maybe Toto Schillaci should be in the reserves in Italy AS.

The players level has to mean at least something.

Well, Goycochea is in the reserves and Burruchaga is among the 23 in Argentina. Maybe El Capo is right. Idk

EDIT: if so, a specific set for Vargas in Chile would be nice. That set couldnt never be applied for his club's era though.
