I think they played with a Midfield trio (4-3-3) rather than this 4-2-3-1-like formation with Modrić, Brozović and Rakitić as CMF's

Are you sure? I checked on Wikipedia and it says he played as AMF.

Unfortunately Wiki is not always accurate when it comes to formations, i had been fooled once in a while for their formations :(

You saw the final and the semifinal right? If so, you should remenber that Modrić often hovered down the right, Brozović was actually on the middle doing either DMF/CMF/AMF i don't know lol, he was simply "Box-To-Boxing" the center and Rakitić was like Modrić moving around down the left side.

Yeah, I watched both matches but I saw Modrić often near opponents area. Maybe for that he looked more like an AMF. Howevery you basically said that Brozović was on the center, Rakitić on the left and Modrić on the right?

Yeah, that's how i saw them in the matches.

Modrić played almost like how he does at Real Madrid, maybe just slighlty advanced.

Why do most modern players (after 2010)  do not exist?

even for important and title-winning teams.

Creating sets isn't easy and not everyone is willing to work on them. Also, some users may be more interested in older players as you can see from the huge amount of players in our database. No one can dedicate his life to create sets here as we're not machines.

 No, we aren't,
but We can work on important teams first, because the more we wait, the more the sets will become more difficult, like the old sets.

I think if we work on sets during the World Cup, for example, the issue will be much easier, especially since the impression is present.
