Roberto GAYÓNADDITIONAL INFO AND IMAGES:On October 12, 1916, Rafael Garza Gutiérrez and his cousin, Germán Cortina, met on the plains of La Condesa to found the American Club, with a handful of young students from Santa Maria la Ribera. In 1917, America requested admission to the Major League, then formed by foreign teams with disdain, demanded proof of three games without any lost: they won the first two and tied for third with the great Spain, achieving its recognition. First Goalscorer. Sota Ernesto became the first America's scoring champion, scoring 16 touchdowns in the 1927-28 season. America won four consecutive championships in tempoada 24-25, 25-26, 26-27 and 27-28. Rafael Garza Gutiérrez was the coach who led the capital city to the first title, which sparked outrage among Spanish teams, who chose to secede from the FMF. America first met at Guadalajara on January 16, 1944 and there began the great history of great mourning. The match was won 5-1 Chivas. In the rematch, 35 days later, America crushed 7-2 Atletico. In 1970 came to America one of the greatest foreigners have played in Mexico: Carlos Reinoso, who had a brilliant career until 1979. Years later led to the club as coach to conquer a championship (83-84). The Boca Juniors was the rival of America to determine the champion of the Copa Interamericana. After losing the first game 3-0 in Buenos Aires, the Coapa won the second 1-0, leaving everything to a third party that defined Carlos Reinoso with a masterful free kick in the throes of the match. America won the American and repeated the feat in 1991 against Olimpia of Paraguay. In 1981, before the resignation of Guillermo Canedo, becomes president Emilio Diez Barroso and so begins a new stage of Americanists. Changed uniforms and took the nickname Aguilas which until now gives them fame. If a year earlier had suffered a historic elimination at the hands of Chivas, 82-83 in the rematch took America Guadalajara to beat in the grand final of 83-84. Table commanded by Carlos Reinoso drew 2-2 in Jalisco and won the decisive match 3-1 with goals from Bacas, Tena and Aguirre. The American fell into a gray era that lasted from 1988 to 1989 to Winter 2001 tournament where they won one league title. During that time, ceased to 16 coaches, five presidents in four years and a multitude of failures in tow. Most notable of these 13 years was Beenhakker and the Copa Libertadores. The Eagles returned to fly high in the Verano 2002 tournament when they won their first league title in 13 years to defeat his "little brother", the Rays of Necaxa, in a thrilling Grand Final. Simultaneously, the American managed to reach the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores 2002, where they were eliminated by the Sao Caetano.
The eighties represents for America, a time of change and momentous accomplishments, learn more about this part of history. The eighties began with a series of major changes to the American club. In 1981 came the first great shock, when Guillermo Canedo leaves the presidency of the Club. He entered the relay Emilio Diez Barroso and with it came great changes, seeking to consolidate to America as one of the best teams in Mexican soccer. The 20 September 1981 defining the concept "Club America", which actually saw coming since 1938, and thus recorded in the history of his own coat, where it appeared the figure of an eagle in the shield. A very important fact is that the August 5, 1983, officially published in the American Anthem, created by Carlos Blanco, hymn that has since shaken Americanist fans and has raised fears of his opponents. The first achievement of this policy is the scoring championship of Norberto Outes in the 1982-83 season with 22 goals, and the most important achievement of the decade, is in the 1983-84 season when crown champions by defeating their arch-rivals Chivas of Guadalajara, by 3 goals to 1 in one of the most vibrant late Mexican soccer. In the 1984-85 season are crowned two-time by defeating Pumas UNAM in a third game in the stadium Corregidora Queretaro 3 goals to 1. This decade also concretely trichampionship PRODE 85 in the tournament by beating the Tampico Madero, when the door was already world cup, Mexico 86. In the 1987-88 season the league title back to America, once again defeating the Pumas. In that same 1988 was crowned Champion of Champions and the CONCACAF Champion beating Saprissa of Costa Rica, will be long after American Cup champion, beating Libertadores Cup champion, who at the time was the Peñarol of Montevideo. Again in its history the Eagles achieved a bichampionship in 1988-89, when he beat Cruz Azul. Booming, the Eagles ended a brilliant season and decade with a title of Champion of Champions. The Eagles and Guadalajara were the first Mexican teams in the Copa Libertadores 1998. This time the Eagles had reached the knockout body and mediate forces always difficult against River Plate squad. In the first leg in Mexico City, ended with a tie to a goal. In the return match at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the fourth minute of the second half and played better when the America River Plate scored the only goal of the game. America was eliminated after his first foray into South American adventure with a performance worthy, stunning and silencing thousands of mouths. America planted the seed that germinate in future participation in the Copa Libertadores. Not only of the Eagles, if not all Mexican football.
