INFO:

Gary McAllister is a former Scottish player and football manager. He was versatile midfielder who could play as central midfielder but also on side, known for great passing, fantastic free kicks, good shot and volleys, good footwork and ball control. McAllister began his playing career at Motherwell, where he scored eight goals in 70 games. He caused quite a stir with his appearance in the semifinals of the Scottish Cup final against Celtic in 1985, when he was discovered by Gordon Milne, the manager of Leicester City. Together with his team-mates Alley Mauchlen he moved in the summer of 1985 for around £ 250,000 to the English Premier League club Leicester City. McAllister also still played in England for Leeds United (English champions in 1992), Coventry City and Liverpool. At the same time he was a successful Scottish national team. He took part in the World Cup in Italy in 1990 and at the European Football Championship in England in 1996 and completed 57 international caps for his country. He is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame. Although he played only for a relatively short time at Liverpool Anfield, he was an important part of the team that won the 2001 Westfalenstadion in Dortmund in the UEFA Cup. His ability in central midfield or on the two half positions to play, made him a sort of "all-purpose weapon" in the team of coach Gérard Houllier. McAllister was also known for his ability to play the "killer pass" and execute the standard situations. He was also a veteran as an integration and role model for the younger players of Liverpool FC. Then came McAllister back to Coventry, where he worked as part of the management and players a dual role at the club, who was now staying. However, for family reasons, he retired from the sport back (his wife was diagnosed with cancer). After his wife Denise on 3 Died of breast cancer in June 2006, he appeared on 29 January 2008, the successor to Dennis Wise (Directeur Sportif went to Newcastle United) as manager of Leeds United. In 2001 he was awarded the Member Of The Order Of The British Empire for his services to football.
