Attack MindedINFO:Elvio Banchero − nicknamed the "Man of mud" due to his ability to play on heavy fields with ease − was a striker. He played for the most part of his career for Alessandria: 79 goals in 160 matches in three different spells − 1921-24, 1925-29 and 1936-37. He had a very good spell at Genova 1893 as well, scoring 42 times in 81 games between 1929 and 1932. The forward played also for SPAL, Roma, Bari and Parma. In 1928 he capped 3 times for Italy, scoring 4 goals. He retired in 1939.
Banchero's main position was centre forward but he could play also as right-inside forward — position that became his main one in the last part of his career, after the arrival of Guillermo Stábile at Genoa. Considered a master with the ball, Banchero had in fact very good ball control and dribbling ability that he used to beat the defences and create chances to score; he had the ability to trigger the attack, especially the wingers, with passes and fast exchanges; his shots had good power and he occasionally scored with volleys; his quickness and reaction inside the box made him dangerous with the head as well.
