Fogl began with the football game at Mezei Torna Club and moved in 1912 Újpesti Törekvés Sportegyesület. Two years later he joined the first division Újpesti TE, where he was to play until the end of his active career. He quickly developed into one of the strongest defenders of the league and could equally impress with his physical strength as well as its technical capabilities. Together with his brother Jozsef he formed a defensive pair in European football as Fogl lock (Fogl-gát) was known. In 1920 he was voted Footballer of the Year.

During his time in the Hungarian football was dominated by the two traditional clubs FTC and MTK, for Újpest gave it mostly for second or third places. Also in the Cup final you had to give not less than four times the two rivals fought. Only 1929/30, in Fogl last season with the Purple, as he barely was able to missions, including the first title in club history. In 1931 he was briefly at the Vasas SC operates.

His debut in the defense of the national team was on the side of Fogl Gyula Feldmann in June 1918 with a 2-0 against Austria in Vienna. In November 1920 he ran for the first time with his brother, with whom he also played most of his matches. After the end of his playing days Fogl suggested that a coaching career and went to Bulgaria, where he won the sports club of Sofia in 1935 and oversaw the national championship, and although he failed in qualifying for soccer's World Cup 1934th He then worked in Romania for Juventus Bucharest, before he led the second division Győri ETO in the highest Hungarian league. As of 1938, and again after the Second World War he trained Warta Poznan and led the team in 1947 for Polish championship.
