Pepi was one of the most beloved players in Rapid history and fantastic scorer. He was strong centre forward of poacherish style, he saw just goal and never gave any help in defensive duties. Although he rarely used to play as inside right and even few games as centre half. Uridil scored from all angles and with all parts of anatomy, he had strong heading abilities, good condition and fighting spirit. Pepi Uridil was on a "Christmas" 24 December 1895, the third son of a master tailor in Kajetan Uridil Ottakringer Grundsteingasse born. He played early on, with eight years in the streets Ottakringer football with his brother Francis Uridil for which Hasnerstraßler against Koppstraßler, as he later wrote in his biography. Pepi Uridil stormed soon as a teenager for many small clubs in the west of Vienna and came across the Sports Club Orion, Tasmania, record and Blue Star to former Austrian record champions SK Rapid Vienna to Hütteldorf. During World War II Pepi Uridil could only rarely used for its rapid, because he had to do a front. Thus, initially denied he usually only a few matches for the Green-Whites per year. Shortly after the war ends, however, could provide Pepi Uridil prove his goalscoring and three seasons in a row won the title of the scorer. During this time the striker was also nicknamed "Tank" and created the "Rapid-spirit" that is shared with the team fighting for victory until the last game second. A prime game for Uridil class as a football player in the championship match is against the 1921 Wiener AC. Eleven of the Dionys Schoenecker was already back at the break 1:5, before the final 15 minutes and could even 3:5 by a combative performance of the "tank" yet still win 7-5, this afternoon, all seven of the Rapid of Goals. Pepi Uridil could win a title with the Hütteldorfer to the other. In 1919 he triumphed with his superior team in the league and won the trophy 3-0 in the final against the Viennese sports club, with his two goals had already Rapid placed in front 2-0. Victory in league and cup were already repeated a year later. Thanks to this great successes Rapid had a very large Fanzulauf after the war, which led inter alia to a major expansion of the Rapid Stadium. The green and white fans flocked mostly to their idol Pepi Uridil to the one developed by then still not comparable fuss. Uridlis name soon appeared on many products, so there was one example Uridil Beer (double malt beer brand "Uridil") and Uridil-candy ("Kracheln"). The well-known author of Viennese songs Hermann Leopoldi put him with the foxtrot "today plays the Uridil" (1922), a musical monument. Pepi Uridil also played the lead role in the film "duty and honor," force on 1 February 1924 delivery points. At many evenings of football players, meanwhile, stepped on the stage and played Leopoldstädter Roland in the revue "" Be capsized, trillion "with. The narrow-authored by Felix Uridil biography soon became a bestseller. Apart from all these "sideline activities" remained Pepi Uridil fulltime yet striker, who celebrated great success on the square. A total of eight times he was at that time appointed to the national team for which he scored as many goals. With this little number of country-style games must be noted, however, could deny that shortly after the end of World War II one of the "major war criminals" little internationals. Uridlis peak in the country dress was a game against Switzerland, where he met three times. Towards the end of the season he could be lured away in 1925 from the Vienna before Pepi Uridil moved into coaching. Pepi Uridil was initially only as a manager in the Czechoslovak Bratislava (Pressburg), did not submit a 1929 one more season as a player in Italy in Bari. About the Netherlands Pepi Uridil finally came to Romania, where he worked alongside Ripensia Timisoara, the Romanian national football team at the World Championships 1934 in Italy. He retired somewhat unhappy with 1:2 in the second round to eventual finalists Czechoslovakia with the team, after they have already located the break 1-0 ahead. After Romania breath away the globetrotter after a brief stopover at home to SC Helfort yet to Yugoslavia (from 1935 when Beogradski SK), Switzerland (to FC Biel he worked from 1936 to 1937, with FC Lucerne thereafter until 1938) and after Germany (1938-1941 Schwarz-Weiss Essen, VfL Altenbögge 1941-1943), before he had to serve during the Second World War for the German Wehrmacht. After the Second World War makes Josef Uridil first again in black and white stop eating and eventually returned in 1953 after his Hütteldorf rapid, with whom he could promptly be champion. In his brief tenure at the Hütteldorfer the legendary game was against the former English champions Arsenal, the Rapid sensationally won with 6:1. Before the game on 25 May 1953 he-validated the well-known saying: "These are eleven, we are eleven, rinse your game and wemma g'wonnen ham, gibt'sa Sekterl.." After Hütteldorf followed Regensburg, where he took over as coach from former Rapidler Franz Binder. After minor success in 1957 SSV he finally sat down to rest. In 1991 was named in Vienna Penzing (14th District), the Josef-Uridil Street after him. 1999 Pepi Uridil was the team of the century, rapid-elected.

I think SS shouldn't only be registered as optional position here. From what I've read, he actually played this position quite regular, while Richard Kuthan was playing at Rapid. Kuthan was CF, Uridil inside right and Bauer inside left..
