Defence MindedINFO:Bernardi was a centre back and occasionally defensive midfielder. He spent almost his entire career at Hellas Verona from 1927 to 1939, in Serie B. He played 337 matches and holds the record for most appearances. He retired in 1942 after three seasons at Reggiana.
Gifted with a good physique, Bernardi was regarded as a formidable defender. He used to play often with a large headband to avoid potential head damage. A great leader, with his determination he drove the entire team not to give up until the end of the match. From the reports it emerges that he joined the attack quite often despite the time and his position. In fact, he scored 12 goals for Hellas Verona. His shots were very powerful, considered like thunderbolts. He sometimes took corners, meaning that he may have had a good passing ability.
