The greatest captain in TSV 1860 München history with more than 1000 games in 21 seasons with the club. Wendl was in the beginning left wing half but later mainly centre half and left back. He was famous for his fantastic long balls from the back line, often making assists for his strikers. He was very tenacious and harsh in physical play, very strong and uncompromising, it was very hard to get past him.
