Attack MindedINFO:Meroni was a striker who played mostly as winger and inside forward. He had his best seasons in Como: he was a key player in the 1948-49 Serie B season that ended with Como reaching the promotion to Serie A thanks to his 21 goals scored in 42 matches; then he played 60 more games and scored 16 times for the club in two Serie A seasons. He played also for Atalanta, Treviso, Padova, Reggiana and Marsala.
Meroni was a good player who was effective not only on the flank, challenging his opponents with dribblings, going past them after sending the ball over their heads, delivering good crosses in the penalty area, but also as centre forward, thanks to his very good sense of goal proved by his scoring rate during the first season in Como, and behind the centre forward, distributing the ball well or trying to shoot from the distance. His shots had good power, he could shoot while turning, he could make a move − either a pass or a shot − while marked by more opponents.
