Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFOErnest Dubac played for Slavija from Osijek (1932-36), Belgrade's BSK (1937-41), with which he won the championship in 1939, and for Zagreb's Civic (1941-45), with which he was the champion of Croatia (1943). They consider him one of the best Croatian defenders of all time; sharp, fast, explosive at the start, great overview of the game and precise passes, great in jump, agile, good in heading. He played 14 matches for the national team of Yugoslavia (1938–41); first played in 1938 against Poland (1: 0) in Belgrade, and the last in 1941 against Hungary (1: 1) in Belgrade, in the last game of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Played in one of the best defenses: Glaser-Hügl-Dubac. Record holder in the number of appearances for the NDH football team (together with M. Brozović); played in all 15 games played (1941–44). By profession a dentist, he worked as a coach for a while, leading Proleter from Osijek, Čelik from Zenica and Trešnjevka.
