INFOA formidable goalscorer, René Bihel was one of the most outstanding center-forwards in the French championship in the 1940s. Very strong player, called "the bull" but also with good technique, hard shot, muscular and explosive physique. He could turn very quickly on tight space and create the free space for shooting. Bihel came to Le Havre, before 1934. Two years later he signed his first professional contract with U.S. Valenciennes. I 1942/43 he was wearing the dress of the Lille suburb club SC Fives. In the following season moved to Lille. But when the club in the summer of 1947 was relegated to the second division. Bihel took an offer from Olympique Marseille, his 15 goals in season 1947/48 contributed significantly to that Olympique won the championship. In 1949 moved to Sporting Toulon. He ended up with Racing Strasbourg in 1950 and 1951 in each case only in the middle of the table, but with nearly 35 years, he was still a third time in the final of the Coupe de France. In 1953 he went to Le Havre AC as a 37-year-old five games played. The most successful French striker of the immediate postwar period, only a total of six appearances in the blue jersey played. In 1954, René Bihel came back to Blois, where he settled permanently, and ran a cafe called Le penalty. He also coached for many years the AAJ Blois. A few days after his 81st Birthday Bihel died in 1997 in the city on the Loire.
