INFO:
Turconi played as right-inside forward and occasionally as centre forward. His name is bound mostly with Pro Patria, team he played in from 1940 to 1950 − in the middle short spells at Liguria and Varese − plus another season in 1957-58. He appeared for Pro Patria 260 times, scoring 78 goals. He's remembered for some matches decided by his performance: in the last match of 1947-48 Pro Patria defeated Juventus 0-4 and Turconi scored twice; the following season Pro Patria, losing 2-1 against Milan, managed to win 2-3 thanks to Turconi's final goal from 30 meters − he scored also the opening goal with a vigorous shot from 20 metres; in the same season, he scored a hat-trick against Genoa and that win avoided Pro Patria's relegation. After leaving Pro Patria he had good seasons at Como from 1950 to 1954: 21 goals in 121 matches. He played also for Palermo, Sanremese and Borgomanero, where he retired in 1959. He capped for Italy twice in 1948, scoring once.
Turconi was a fast and very dynamic player, a tireless runner, gifted with a strong physique and a powerful shot, often used from the distance − for example, he scored against Inter a fantastic goal from outside the penalty area sending the unstoppable shot right under the crossbar or against Torino an accurate and powerful shot after making a half turn; he could start the run from the distance, looking for an empty space and taking advantage of it to pass through the defence and shoot; he wasn't bad with the head either and probably had good elevation, proved by a goal he scored after managing to jump higher than Juventus defender Carlo Parola; he occasionally showed some passing ability but he was mainly the one who finalized the action.
