INFO:
Travia was a right-back, occasionally deployed on the left. His career started at Arsenale Taranto in 1946. One year later, he signed for Como where he stayed until 1951, playing 137 matches as right-back and scoring 1 goal (in Serie B). He then played for Pro Patria from 1951 to 1953, making 69 appearances and scoring once. He played some games as left-back in his second season with Pro Patria. He retired in 1956 after spending two years at Juventus and one at Alessandria.
A firm and consistent defender, not very tall but bulky and strong, Travia was excellent in clearing, gifted with positional sense and determination. He did his sweeping job well but could also take part in the attacking plays. During his Serie A years, he proved that his level wasn't below that of the Italian top defenders as he withstood even the challenges against the best strikers. He was a solid, timely and sometimes tough tackler who would keep chasing his opponent with persistence. His dynamism could be seen also forward as he sometimes acted as side-back with no defensive duties. This way, he could support the forwards with passes and crosses or be an additional threat in the opposition's box during corner kicks.
