Robert Korner is former Austrian winger. He was known also as the "Austrian Stanley Matthews" because of his great dribbling slaloms on the right wing. Robert was most known for his fantastic crosses, but he was also solid scorer. He was little bit weak physically, but had good condition and used to come in his own half to get the ball and start the run through the wing, had good technique and speed, very agile on tight space. Together with his brother Robert was Alfred Körner 1938 in the youth team from Rapid. Skinny by nature, he was nicknamed "Gselchter". Robert Korner, he was given the abbreviation "Korner I," made his debut for Rapid in his position of right winger on 23 August 1942 when the 10-1 victory over FK Austria Wien, brother Alfred soon played as a left winger.
