INFO:

The greatest legend in the history of AGF and one of the most underrated and forgotten legends in Danish history. Aage Rou Jensen was the greatest gentleman to step onto a football pitch in Danish history, he was never spoken to by a referee once in his entire 20 year career. He was also an incredible athlete: he played handball in Denmark's top division and for the Danish national team, and also practiced gymnastics, swimming and tennis for AGF. Despite all these sporting commitments, he played 11 years in a row without missing a single game for AGF's football team, and worked full time as executive secretary of a brewery. In addition to this, he was known for covering the most ground of anyone on the pitch and for being the most diligent trainer of his team. He was captain of AGF for most of his career and also in 12 out of his 30 caps for Denmark. Aage was considered to be an excellent playmaker, acclaimed for his vision of the game and intelligence on the pitch. He also had a good scoring record, although he was mainly considered a playmaker. In particular, he was one of the most feared players in Denmark in the air, he had brilliant heading technique and was tall with a good leap. Overall, he was only considered to have two weaknesses: his lack of pace, and preference of using his left foot. He would have achieved many more caps for Denmark but unfortunately his career overlapped with Knud Lundberg, an almost completely identical player. Lundberg also played in multiple sports and was also a tall and slow playmaking inside forward, the only difference was their opposite personalities: Jensen was known as a diligent hard worker while Lundberg considered himself to be lazy. It was thought to be impossible to play with both players in the national team as the team would lack pace, as such, Lundberg was usually preferred, although as Jensen was 4 years younger he was able to become a regular in the team in the mid 50s, when he was already over 30. He played 709 games for AGF in total, having spent his entire career at the club. Like many others he could have turned professional as he had many offers from clubs in other countries but chose to stay in Denmark. He captained AGF to winning 4 of their 5 total league titles and 3 cup titles. It is virtually impossible that AGF will have a bigger legend ever again.
