Attack/Defence Awareness Card: BalancedINFO:Bobby Evans was a former Celtic legend, one of the leading half backs in Britain during the 50s. He was a fantastic player who dominated the game on both sides of the pitch, controlling the possession with his excellent passing and vision while also expertly shutting down opposition attacks. And with his energy and determination he could support his team for the full 90 minutes. He was also good in the air and a fierce tackler despite his short size. With his positioning and defensive awareness he could slot in easily at centre half and after Jock Stein's retirement in 1957 he moved to that position full time. With such a complete set of skills, he was described as a one man team. And unfortunately, since he played in some weak Celtic teams, he often had to be. He was captain of Celtic and Scotland, and appeared at the 1954 and 58 World Cups with his country. Despite his long and excellent career with Celtic he only managed to win one league title and two Scottish Cups. He left Celtic as the club wanted to build a younger team, but before he left, he had helped to develop his replacement: Billy McNeill, who would lead the club to European glory 7 years later. One of the true Celtic greats.
