INFO:

Jim Craig was the starting right back of the Lisbon Lions and a solid if unspectacular player. He had good pace for his height and strong yet fair tackling, also useful going forward, not as flashy as Gemmell on the other side of defence but capable of sending useful crosses and overlapping with Jimmy Johnstone. He had a calm demeanour, being one of the few players on either side to not disgrace themselves in the despicable Intercontinental Cup of 1967 against Racing Club despite the extreme provocation of the Argentine side. He famously gave away a penalty in the European Cup final in Lisbon to give Inter the lead, but made up for it later on by assisting fellow full back Gemmell for the equaliser. This was a show of the way Celtic played the game, both full backs attacking at the same time on the edge of the box, causing chaos in even the most formidable of defences. Craig was never one of the most prominent figures in the team, but his contribution to Celtic's history is still significant.
