I believe Olavo was always a center-back, not side-back.

If you have a source that shows him as side-back, I would be happy to see.

He's described here as 171 cm tall. He was indeed right back and centre back, playing mainly on the side during the 1960s.
He acted also as right-half in his early career, in case someone has him in their OF as part of Corinthians.

It’s more probable that he played as a CB for Corinthians, I can’t imagine there was many teams using a 4-2-4 in the 50s.

The reason I make some comments on this forum, it is because I believe a very good job has been done here.

I suspect the correct formation on this game against Hamburger was a 3-2-5, being Dalmo, Mauro and Olavo the defenders, Lima and Calvet the midfielders, Dorval RW, Bê LW, Mengálvio and Pelé inside forward and Coutinho CF.

I suggest you to watch the game again paying a special attention on this. If possible, let me know the link's game, so I can watch it too.

Anyway, Im trying to reach a friend that may give us more info.

I already watched that game 2 or 3 times throughout the years, it was a 4-2-4, I have even notes about it:

Well, here is what I got after research about Olavo.

He indeed played as sideback for Santos, I also watched the game you mentioned against Hamburg. But he played as a improvised reserve that he used to be in Santos, filling the vacancies that were open by injuries.

At the final against Benfica in 1962 for example, he covered an injuried Mengálvio and Lima was put on the midfield.

He was a polivalent player, it is true, but he was mainly a centerback (specially at Corinthians when he had his prime). He was hired for Santos with 34 years old to be this polyvalent player (I also understand this set was made according his Santos' time).

But as the discussion started when I saw Olavo at Corinthians AS team as a sideback, it makes sense when I post that I reserve sideback was needed because the team has 5 centerbacks and 2 SB.

Also, for the stats is important to notice that he was a great penalty kicker and was the official penalty kicker during a period in Corinthians, marking all the 18 goals he did in the club by penalties.

Here is the best article about Olavo I found on the internet: https://acervosantosfc.com/olavo-1961-1965/

would there be a need to change some attribute if I'm creating a version of his phase at Corinthians? in addition to the position and the penalty, which have already been mentioned.

Well, he was already past his peak and was old, specially for that time.

He was a better player at Corinthians for sure, including reaching the National Team with 4 matches between 1955 and 1957.

Other thing: you say he was polivalent. Do u know if he played in the left side too? Or maybe as DMF? The link you post is off :((

Edit: This source says he was able to play as left side
