Hervé Revelli was a legendary Saint-Étienne player, he's still their all time record goalscorer and he's considered as one of their best ever players. He was a striker and occasionally could play on the wing. He was excellent striker whose part in the play wasn't just scoring goals, but he also was involved in organisation of attacking actions. He covered a lot of ground, often going back to the center of the pitch to get the ball and then going into dribbling or passing the ball to another teammate. He drew the attention of opposing defenders and by that creating a more space for his teammates to produce something. He possessed excellent feeling for attacking movement, and was a nightmare for defenders in domestic league and in Europe. He was known for his ability to shot and score goals from very difficult positions and also from overhead kicks. He helped his defense as much as he could. His most prolific period was during his early years when he was Ligue 1 top scorer twice in four seasons, while he was his team's top scorers for all those seasons (from 1966 to 1970). Later he didn't score that much goals but still showed class on the pitch.
