Selected in Czechoslovakia as their 4th best goalkeeper ever after Planička (1st), Viktor (2nd) and Schrojf (3rd). Vencel was excellent penalty saver and he kept cleansheet in 132 games for Slovan, player strong or fat built but with excellent reflexes and positioning. The celebrated 15 years of the league, catching 321 times and won three titles federal champion and two Cs. Cups. In the years 1965 - 1977 represented 25 times and 38 times was ready to substitute Viktor. Started almost together and both had bad luck that could only catch one. Then took place nitívne defined in 1966 and became the winner of PVP. With Viktor qualifications acquired at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico and both have there played. Vencel also fought on the World Championship 1966 in England, and to participate in the European Championship in Belgrade, where he attended. Even of Argentina in 1978 has yet attempted. Between Viktor and Vencel representatives played 92 matches, but they only released 12 times instead of another. Worked as a trainer in the DAC Dunajska Streda, "Spartacus" Trnava "Slavia" Bratislava. His son Alexander Vencel junior was also a football goalkeeper, he played twice for Czechoslovakia and 19 times for Slovakia. Much of his professional career was spent in France.
