Sirena was a left-back. His career started at Treviso in 1962. He joined Inter in 1964 but never played an official match in two seasons. He transferred to Roma in 1966, playing 52 matches and scoring 4 goals in three seasons. He had his best time at Hellas Verona, where he stayed from 1969 to 1977: 241 games and 17 goals. He could've gained caps for Italy but he was closed by Giacinto Facchetti.
Sirena was a powerful defender, gifted with a strong physique. He was very effective when he pushed forward, creating a numerical superiority and supporting the winger when he didn't find space during the attack. Thanks to his height, he was very strong with the head both in defence and attack. In fact, he was considered a defender-scorer. He was left-footed but fine with the right too.
